Baotianman Biosphere Reserve, located in southwestern Henan Province, covers an area about half the size of Sanya. Designated by UNESCO in 2001, it is the only biosphere reserve in central China.

Situated at the transition between the northern subtropical and warm temperate climate zones, Baotianman also serves as the watershed of the Yangtze, Yellow, and Huai rivers. This unique location makes it a meeting point for northern and southern biological communities, fostering remarkable ecological diversity.
The reserve preserves numerous ancient relict plant species, offering valuable samples for studies on plant evolution. Rare animals including leopards, golden eagles, golden pheasants, and giant salamanders thrive here. The area also harbors the world's largest fossil site where dinosaur bones and eggs coexist.

According to legend, during the Warring States period, FAN Li, a minister of the Yue Kingdom, sought refuge from war in the deep forests of Baotianman. These tales infuse the majestic mountains with a sense of poetry and mystery.
From the Sinian mountains 1.8 billion years ago to today's "kingdom of biodiversity," Baotianman has witnessed the long evolution of nature, showcasing the infinite possibilities of life.
